In a landmark move to foster energy literacy and professional development among young Ghanaians, the Association of Energy Professionals Ghana (AEPGH) has officially launched its Student Chapter Program. The launch event, held at the University of Ghana, brought together students, faculty members, and industry leaders to mark the beginning of a transformative platform for youth engagement in Ghana’s energy future.

The Student Chapter aims to provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and hands-on experience to students pursuing careers in energy and sustainability. Through workshops, guest lectures, field trips, and innovation challenges, AEPGH hopes to ignite a passion for clean energy solutions among Ghana's university population.

"This is more than just a student club," said Mrs. Ernestina Ampomah, President of AEPGH, during her opening address. "It is a pipeline for nurturing talent and equipping our youth to take on real challenges in the energy sector—from renewable energy integration to energy efficiency and policy advocacy."

The initiative comes at a time when Ghana is accelerating its energy transition efforts and exploring sustainable technologies to power its economy. Students enrolled in the chapter will have access to professional certification programs, internship placements, and opportunities to contribute to national energy dialogues.

Participating institutions currently include Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Ghana, and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), with plans to expand to other campuses nationwide.

As part of the launch, AEPGH introduced the “Future Energy Leaders Forum,” an annual conference where student members will showcase innovations and pitch solutions to real-world energy problems.

The Student Chapter initiative reflects AEPGH’s broader mission: to develop competent energy professionals who can support Ghana’s growing energy needs while championing sustainable development.
